Information at the point of action
Using Sybase Afaria, the Oakland Police Department built a solution that sends up-to-date information wirelessly through the network to patrol car laptops. Working with Sybase’s iAnywhere subsidiary, the department implemented a mobile crime-fighting solution that enables officers to automatically get what they need.
The solution was implemented to run behind the scenes, transparent to the end-user, as officers work to keep the peace. Afaria now enables reliable information feeds to patrol cars, a streamlined tracking system for criminal offences, and has improved the information flow from the department to each patrol car.
